WEEK-END LOS LINGUES FARM "RELAIS & CHATEAUX"
2
days/1 night |
Departure
from Santiago to the Hacienda Los Lingues Relais
& Chateaux. The Hacienda Los Lingues is not
just a typical big Chilean countryside house, but
it is a living testimony of the colonial times.
At the end of the XVI century, an Extremaduran nobleman,
son of a knight of the military order of Santiago
who held the post of major of the capital in 1599
settles in Santiago. He won prestige in the society
of Santiago and was awarded by the King of Spain
with the Estate of Angostura (Estancia de la Angostura)
located in the central valley. Her daughter, wife
of the Chilean governor, inherits the one that afterwards
would be called Hacienda Los Lingues. Since then,
Los Lingues has continuously belonged to their descendants
for generations. Thus it has managed to stay in
the same family for more than four centuries.
Thanks
to this, it has been possible to show a living testimony
of the past, which enables us to have a better kwnoledge
in the present time of the historic reality of a
typical Chilean agricultural property. The big house
contains a series of surprises.
Basement, with thick walls of "cal y canto"
(characteristic material of the period based on
lime and egg white), the same material used in the
legendarily bridge over the Mapocho river (in Santiago),
is converted in huge winter dining rooms with a
capacity for hundreds of guests. In this place it
is possible to taste some of the 150 varieties of
Chilean wines that are stored in their wine cellars.
Family houses occupy an area of more than 5000 square
meters. A Florentine Christ from the XVII century,
made of ivory and that is 72 cm high, which belonged
to Pio IX Pope, stands out. It is currently in the
estate Chapel.
DAY
1. Arrival and welcome cocktail. Lodging in
double room. Visit to the main house. A Chilean
lunch is served with the best wine of own vinegars
production. In the afternoon, horse exhibition and
a walk to the lake to observe the local flora and
fauna. Dinner and overnight.
DAY
2. Breakfast. Tours by horse, mountain bike,
tennis and swimming pool. Regional wine testing.
